That means the outer and the chequered lining are woven together (unlike inferior versions which are glued) to form one length of cloth. This is then skilfully tailored for a flattering line and complete ease of movement across the shoulders and under the arms.

All the interior seams are fabric bound, the toggles are genuine buffalo horn and the thongs are made from hand-sewn leather. Finished with three pockets -one inside for your wallet and two patch hand-warmers - plus a draught-proof hood, Montgomeries, worn by military officers in two World Wars, are acknowledged as the finest true duffel coats in the world.
