Trim the tops of high hedges effortlessly and safely with the new powerful but ultra-lightweight 18V lithium-ion rechargeable battery powered Eckman telescopic extendable hedge trimmer. Two of the reasons why this telescopic hedge trimmer is considered so safe are because there's no need for a step ladder or dangling mains power lead.The trimmer weighs just 3.2kg / 7lbs inc. battery and provides an impressive reach of 5ft10” (1.7metres) and when fitted with the optional 90cm extension pole (available separately for just £9.95) reach is extended to an incredible 8ft7½” (2.62m).
Lithium power means more power for longer. The Eckman Long Reach Hedge Trimmer also has no 'memory' or pollutant problems as can be the case with Ni-Cad batteries, which means you get a significantly lighter, easier to use tool. Its extra-long 18” (46cm) reciprocating blade can be locked in 5 different cutting positions (120degrees) and will power through stems over ½” in diameter.

This is a bonus for me. I can now trim my pyracanthus hedge with no problem at all. The angle is easy to manouvre and not too heavy.

This is so much easier o use in cutting
My high hedge (with the extended pole as well) no ladders required or stretching over the top
It is a little heavy but it's manageable. One of my best buys and I do recommend it.

a good product makes high hedges easier,but heavier than expected battery life limited need extra battery if you have a lot of hedge trimming to do.

The machine made light work of our hedge which is long and deep but not too high it does however feeels heavy as it reaches the highest point of the hedge so might be better to use a ladder/steps to reach the highest point but overall it is better than the last cordless trimmer we had.
One thing the packaging was damaged probably due to the handling of the courier rather than the supplier when it was delivered but trimmer was ok inside.

Nice piece of kit, battery life not fantastic, you will need to purchase a spare to keep going with your task, extension pole gives you plenty of scope, however you need to be fit to hold it when using at full length, overall does the job! Pleased with tool and price.

The machine seems robust (I have only used it once) and is easy to fit together. Using it is not easy as all the weight is at shoulder height or above. To use the blade at the vertical position is impossible without having wrist joints with more than 180 degrees of flexibility because you have to press a safety button and operate the handle simultaneously whilst holding the handle at a mid line position to the body, therefore it is best used on vertical cuts in an oblique angle across the body. This puts the weight in the wrong position and causes back and shoulder strain, also makes the horizontal cutting position impossible. The described length of almost 2 meters is misleading, as this incorporates the cutter bar, which is quite long, and the useable length is more like two feet longer than an ordinary hedge trimmer. Therefore you definitely need the extra length extension.
